About Kate
When I was 25, I got hired at The Green Thumb in Westborough MA. I was hired to run the coffee counter in the store, but it was still under construction. In the meantime, I was put to work in the greenhouse and never left.
Not only did I love every minute with my hands in the soil, but they discovered as did I that I had a real talent for color, texture and style in container gardening. I was brought into their family and under their wing and absorbed every bit of info I could. I had found my passion and had returning customers asking for me personally to do their patio planters and window boxes. They knew then I was more an asset in the greenhouse than behind a coffee counter. That was a turning point in my life.
I stayed with them for thirteen wonderful years and had become their greenhouse manager, buyer and head grower. After two years as Annual and houseplant department supervisor at Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton, MA I decided to start my own container gardening business.
